The Ts'Ăts'Ă sh (Firish) Language from Elemental
Ăf bĂĄĂŹ!
Jessie Sams (@quothalinguist) and I created a language for Pixarâs latest film Elemental. We created both a spoken language and writing system that are used in spots throughout the film. Itâs out today, so if you watch it, see if you can spot any of it! We had a lot of fun creating a language the requested âsound like fireâ. A tough thing to do with a human mouth, but we had some fun with it! Some language highlights:
- Ejective consonants
- No nasals
- Fricative nuclei
- Fluid (ha, ha) case system
- Glyphs that resemble braziers
If you check it out, we hope you enjoy it!

reddit refugees, reblog art, don’t repost it
if you really like someone’s art, reblog it. you can do that by clicking the little looping arrows at the bottom of the post. this will make it so the art appears on your blog and shows up to your followers, but the op is still credited and given notes.
reposting does not give credit. and no, saying “artist is ___” as the caption doesn’t count, unless you have permission given directly by the artist.
if you have a funny or pretty image on your phone that you saved from reddit, don’t post it here on tumblr, because 99% of the time it came from tumblr. use a reverse image search to try and find the original tumblr post, and reblog that.
taking that extra five minutes to find the original post of an artist you love will absolutely brighten their day and make the entire world a better place.
please, I’m begging you. reblog art. don’t repost it.

Itâs really none of anyoneâs business what you do. Life is a spectrum.

I gotta say, so much queer intra-community horseshit dropped off my shoulders when I decided to adopt a firm policy that everyone is the expert in their own identity, the single most knowledgeable person about what it’s like to live life in their own skin, and that if someone describes their experience in ways I find contradictory or paradoxical I should do them the courtesy of presuming that they are striving to express something very specific and nuanced, rather than leaping to the conclusion that they’re just dumb and using words wrong.
Sure, there are some combinations of identity terms that I look at and go “hmm, I don’t get how that works.” I’m still a human being. But there’s a big difference between not getting how something works versus insisting that it doesn’t.
I want “everyone is the expert in their own identity” on a poster
OP, this was articulated beautifully!!!😊💋
I believe very strongly in the duality of identity/sexuality/etc.
1. There is Mine, upon which I am the expert and nobody else’s opinion matters.
2. There is Not Mine, upon which the owner is the expert and my opinion does not matter.
